Welcome!

Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to room 303! My name is Ms. Ratcliffe and I am your child’s 8th grade English teacher. I am very excited to be working with you and your child during the 2009-2010 school year. My job as teacher is to not only prepare them for the Language Arts EOG at the end of the year, but to prepare them for high school and the world they are quickly going to be participating in and leading. I have very high expectations in my class and hope that these expectations will prepare them for a fast-paced, ever changing world. It is my aspiration and dream to help each student become more educated and productive members of society. After all, once our leaders of today are gone, it is your students who will be leading this community, country, and world.

I believe open communication and parent involvement are fundamental aspects of a child’s education. I strongly encourage you to monitor the assignments and projects we will be working on throughout the year. To help aide you in this endeavor, it would be beneficial for your child to have an agenda at the beginning of the year in which he or she can write down all due dates for homework, projects, quizzes, and tests. Your student will have something due each week, even if it is only a small homework assignment. No week should ever be blank.

I sincerely hope that we can work together to help your child succeed in the 8th grade and to help prepare them for high school and the future. If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to email me at Ratclin.agc@pitt.k12.nc.us or call me at 252-756-3105. I have an open door policy and can be contacted before and after school hours.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help your child grow and succeed. Again, I am very excited to be working with you and your child this year.

Sincerely,

Ms. Ratcliffe
